Danhong Wang: Rhapsody
Yangqin: Wenlin Pu / Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, Tien-Ku Percussion Group / Chih-Sheng Chen / National Concert Hall, Taipei, Taiwan. 2014.7.13.
Rhapsody for yangqin and Chinese orchestra was composed in April 2011. The music is relaxed and lively, adopting the free and easy structure of a Rhapsody. The use of non-traditional harmony with the rhythmic pattern of pop music brings a fresh performance style to this traditional instrument. The dazzling technique and sounds combine to create a dramatic and exciting work for yangqin.
