Danhong Wang: Yang Ge on Strings

Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, Tien-Ku Percussion Group / Chih-Sheng Chen / National Concert Hall, Taipei, Taiwan 2012.7.21

On the vast northern land of China, a lively song, dance, and drum genre called Yang Ge was created. For the people living there, on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar, they dance the Yang Ge. For those who have been living there for ages, they truly understand this music, which is a reflection of their difficult life, and gives them a moment to feel that their hardships have been overcome. They dance with passion and abandon, expressing their joy, which transcends this life.
