Jianmin Wang: Fantasy Ballad

This piece is based on the famous long narrative poem “The Song of Everlasting Regret” by Tang Dynasty poet BAI Juyi and composed as a single movement concerto. In terms of performance techniques, it has adapted some of the melodic characteristics of Shanxi folk songs and the performance styles of Chinese opera. The composer focused on mixing different ethnic traditional styles with some modern harmonic techniques to form this unique work.
