Shin-Tsai HUANG: Song of Autumn

Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra / Chih-Sheng CHEN / National Recital Hall, Taipei, Taiwan 2019.12.11

The song is divided into three sections, each using different techniques to express the various seasonal changes during autumn.

(1) Falling into Autumn: A brisk tempo and smooth melodic lines depicts the approaching coolness of autumn, throwing away the annoying heat of midsummer, and expressing lively and happy scenes.

(2) Mid-Autumn Festival: “The moon at Mid-Autumn will be extraordinarily clear.” On this festive season, families reunite to celebrate. The music is elegant and warm.

(3) Late Autumn: With a slightly plaintive tune, this section describes the scene of late autumn that is sometimes cloudy and rainy, sometimes windy, dim and gloomy.
